Abstract

This article intends to analyse the female participation on youth criminal gangs. It aims to clarify, more specifically, if this phenomenon is an opposition to the “socialization to femininity” – a Tamar Pitch’s concept on what society teaches to and expect from a woman – and, in consequence, a criminal form of emancipation, or if it corresponds to another type of gender violence.
