Abstract

This paper analyzes the foundations and the four canons of the principle of legality within the framework of criminal law. To develop this purpose, the arguments about the reason for the principle of legality are initially presented. The main objective is to demonstrate the need to take criminal law seriously, which in recent years has been suffering a sharp process of erosion and loss of density.
